Quarterly Blog Review

Can you believe how fast the year has gone? It feels like two weeks ago it was Christmas and all the madness that ensues at that time of the year!

At Silk Home we have been working hard to not only stage homes but also put out content for everyone who is interested in home staging and interior design.

We’ve decided to do a quarterly blog review, taking a trip back down memory lane with some of our favourite and most loved blog posts of the year so far!

First we have Twist on a Teenage Boys Bedroom! Our clients wanted a modern chic/Hamptons vibe for their inner city apartment so that when their teenage grandson moved to Newcastle for University, he had a room that felt like his own. This project was really exciting as we had to keep a certain style while adding masculine elements and keeping the room youthful.

Secondly, as part of our Colour Love collection, our post on Green Love earned a whole lotta love. As the use of of foliage, succulents and cacti in homes grew, so has everyone’s love for the colour green. As both a statement colour and an undertones colour, green has a lot of elements that can be used to create a great space!

Next, we had our trip back in time with the Feature Property – Lorna Street, Waratah. This classic home is locally renowned for its traditional structure and magical presence. When staging such a classic home, it is great to add bits and pieces that don’t take away from the traditional, 1895 home that is ‘Braeside’.

Finally, First Impressions Count is a great advice blog on the importance of your entryway. The blog gives advice on how to make your entry feel more connected to your home rather than just an add on.

Top 5 Professional Home Stager

We at Silk Home are incredibly excited and proud to share with you that Naomi Findlay, our owner and creative director, was awarded the title of “International Top 5 Professional Home Stager” during a recent trip to Dallas, Texas! Naomi was a keynote speaker at the Home Staging Summit held in November 2015, where the award was announced.

Naomi says she is extremely honoured to receive the Award, and it is testament to the strong team she has alongside her at Silk Home. The award comes at a time when Home Staging is becoming recognised as being a strong team member of the real estate industry and property team.

Programs such as The Block on the Nine Network have really helped home owners to not only improve the everyday look and feel of their homes, but importantly they understand the importance of Home Staging and Styling when it comes to selling their property for more.

Naomi and the team at Silk Home have been staging and styling property for over 6 years. Naomi saw a need for education in the Home Staging Industry and due to an increase in awareness of the benefits of staging a property for sale, the International Institute of Home Staging (IIHS) was born.

Naomi and the team at IIHS are currently working to expand the program offering to include programs for everyday people and investors wanting to achieve amazing results when selling their property.

“After conquering interior design, this successful blogger is now tapping into Australia’s reno addiction

Gone are the days when blogging was just a hobby. Today, when done well, it is a really viable business opportunity to rake in some serious bucks.

A great example of this is Jen Bishop of leading interior design blog Interiors Addict, who early this month launched a second site Reno Addict, targeting the renovation bug that has bitten Australia.

Jen turned Interiors Addict from just a hobby into a full time job after leaving her role as editor and publisher of Dynamic Business magazine in 2013.”…
